PTA Highlights

Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools and the Savannah-Chatham PTA Council have made great strides in growing positive engagement efforts between parents and our schools.  This effort was recognized through numerous awards during the 103rd Annual Georgia PTA Convention Leadership Training in Atlanta, August 4-5, 2017.

SCCPSS PTA Council was named an Exemplary Council and four schools – Charles Ellis, Pooler, New Hampstead and Gould were named National PTA Schools of Excellence.

The Hearst Family-School Partnership Awards went to Charles Ellis Montessori as the National Standards “Overall Winner”;  Jacob G. Smith Elementary awarded Standard 2 “Communicating Effectively”; Pooler Elementary for Standard 6 “Collaborating with the Community”; and Savannah Arts Academy won the “PTA President’s Award.”

Three individuals from Pooler Elementary were also recognized.  Tina Schrambeck was named the “Outstanding Birney Butler Educator,” Teresa Baker won the “Visionary Award,” and Pooler’s Principal Stacey McPipkin was a nominee for “Outstanding 2017 Principal.”

Godley Station K8 received the “Membership Madness Winner” and two scholarships were provided this year - congratulations to Amari McDonald from Woodville Tompkins PTSA with a $500 dollar scholarship award and Chavez Malik Luckett from Savannah Arts Academy’s PTSA who was awarded a $200 scholarship.

Lastly, Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools had 25 schools earn Model PTA status this past school year.  Model PTA is a designation that defines the most effective process for parental engagement in the school community, ensuring that schools, families, and the community work together for the benefit of all students.
