SCCPSS Students Win in First Constitution Day Contest

Recently, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court here in Savannah, GA hosted the first ever Constitution Day Art/Poster Contest for grades K-3 and an Constitution Day Essay Contest for grades 4-5. Out of 150 entries, six SCCPSS elementary students were selected as winners to represent each grade level.

The students were invited to the courthouse to receive a medal, a framed certificate, a book, a pocket Constitution, and a flag. Each student also had the opportunity to meet Judge Edward J. Coleman, III. This year, he plans to host four Mock Trials in his courtroom.

Congratulations to the winners that are listed below:

Siri Wright - Kindergarten, Brock Elementary - "Freedom to Love"

Jakayla Deloach - First grade, Brock Elementary - "Freedom to Vote"

David Diogo - Second grade, Southwest Elementary - "Peace"

Hadden Dart - Third grade, Hesse K-8 School - "Liberty & Justice"

Vir Derola - Fourth grade, Godley Station K-8 School - "Amendment 19"

Zachary Maxwell, Jr. - Fifth Grade, Godley Station K-8 School - "1st Amendment"
