Announcements: STEM Academy at Bartlett Named Top STEM Middle School Program in the State of Georgia for 2017

Title

STEM Academy at Bartlett Named Top STEM Middle School Program in the State of Georgia for 2017

Body

The STEM Academy at Bartlett has been selected as the top STEM Middle School in the state at the 2017 STEM Education Awards sponsored by the Technology Association of Georgia and TAG Education Collaborative.

This is the premier STEM recognition event in the state, recognizing the state’s top STEM educators, schools, companies, and programs.

The awards were created to recognize and celebrate schools, extracurricular programs, public-private partnerships, science agencies and post-secondary education outreach programs for outstanding efforts and achievement in supporting and promoting science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education in Georgia.

Dr. Jimmie Cave, principal of The STEM Academy @ Bartlett, says, receiving the TAG STEM Award for Middle Schools means The STEM Academy @ Bartlett is recognized for its innovative instructional practices, student academic achievement, and continuous dedication to promoting STEM education in the state of Georgia. Cave went on to state, “This award is a testament to the hard work of the students and teachers, who not only engage in the STEM curriculum, but who are genuinely making attempts to find viable solutions to real world problems.”

The STEM Education Awards were held November 3rd at the Loudermilk Center in downtown Atlanta. TAG is the leading technology industry association in the state, serving more than 35,000 members. The STEM Academy @ Bartlett is a specialty middle school serving sixth through eighth grade students. The school was Georgia’s first certified STEM middle school, is an Apple Distinguished School, and was selected as the top STEM middle school in the nation in 2016 at the Future of Education Technology Conference.
