Announcements: Dr. Angie Lewis named Georgia State Administrator of the Year for the Georgia Association for Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education

Title

Dr. Angie Lewis named Georgia State Administrator of the Year for the Georgia Association for Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education

Body

Dr. Angie Lewis has been more than influential in the Savannah-Chatham County School System. While teaching Business at Groves High School, she established the Youth Apprenticeship and Work Based Learning programs. For the past 16 years, Dr. Lewis has been involved in Career and Technical Education.

As her career blossomed, Dr. Lewis served as the assistant principal at Savannah Arts Academy and Savannah High School. She supervised and worked with Career Technology teachers at both schools. She was later appointed the principal of the School of Law and Criminal Justice at Savannah High as well as the principal of Woodville-Tompkins Technical & Career Institute.

During her tenure, Dr. Lewis has launched several initiatives in Chatham County: the Student Success Expo & STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Festival; the Medical Preceptorship Program and; the Ready to Work Job Fair just to name a few. This year’s Expo drew 13,000 participants

Dr. Lewis currently serves as the Director of CTAE and the Office of College & Career Readiness. In 2013, she and her staff wrote the curriculum for the Maritime Logistics Internship program pathway that was approved by the Georgia Department of Education.

We would like to congratulate Dr. Lewis for being named the 2015 Georgia Administrator of the Year for the Georgia Association for Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education! Additionally, she was honored as the 2015 Georgia Administrator of the Year for the Georgia Affiliate for Engineering & Technology Education. The Georgia Association for Career & Technology Education (GACTE) is the second largest state affiliate of the national organization, Association for Career & Technical Education (ACTE).

“I am honored to be named the Georgia Association for Career & Technical Education (GACTE) Administrator of the Year! I thoroughly enjoy working to ensure that our students are prepared to become productive citizens who make major contributions to our community and world,” Dr. Lewis exclaimed. “This award would not have been possible with the support of the Office and College and Career Readiness staff, Dr. Ann Levett and the Office of Academic Affairs, Dr. Thomas B. Lockamy and the entire Board of Education and all of our business and industry partners.”
