Title

Middle School Students Sign on to Governor Deal's REACH Program

Body

Recently, the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System held its REACH (Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen) Signing Day at Myers Middle School. SCCPSS Board members, District officials, faculty, and staff were all present for the occasion.

reach

REACH is a needs-based scholarship designed to promote academic success and expand access to higher education. Five seventh-graders signed contracts to maintain a certain GPA as well as exemplify ideal behavior.

Jahmarion Bacon (Hubert); Dominique Wynn (Myers); Jacquin Mack (Mercer); Nashay Brooks (Southwest); and Camren Holmes (DeRenne) were all joined by their family members and principals as they signed on to the program.

reach

The foundation will provide each of them with a $10,000 scholarship to any of Georgia’s HOPE eligible colleges if they meet all of the requirements and graduate from high school on time.

Pam Williams, the governor’s education outreach coordinator, and Georgia regent Don L. Waters presented the REACH participants with a certificate signed by Governor Nathan Deal.

reach

Superintendent, Dr. Thomas Lockamy, school board President, Jolene Byrne, Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Ann Levett and District 1 School Board Representative, Julie Wade shared their excitement for this initiative.

Congratulations to our students as they embark on this new journey in academic success!
