How does the counselor work with children?

Classroom Guidance- The counselor goes into each

classroom on a regular basis. Topics for classroom guidance

lessons include making friends, improving study skills, and

goal setting.

Individual Counseling- The counselor is available to talk

with students privately. Individual counseling is done on a

limited basis.

Small Group Counseling- The counselor invites students

who have similar concerns to meet weekly for several weeks.

Topics for small group counseling sessions include improving

study skills, making friends, and anger control.

How does counselors work with parents? 

Parents talk with counselors about a variety of concerns. 

They are encouraged to share family concerns which might be

impacting their child in school. Parents may want to talk to

the counselor when students are experiencing behavioral,

emotional, or social difficulties.
