My name is Melissa Lynne Milligan. I graduated from Armstrong Atlantic University in 1991. After 10 years of teaching, I decided to pursue a Master's Degree in Educational Technology from Lesley University. During my studies, Bartow Elementary began writing Magnet Schools of America federal grant. The grant proposed Bartow become a Math, Technology, and Design Magnet school(MTD). During the writing process, I offered ideas on how to incorporate technology, into the curriculum. Bartow received the grant and I was hired as the Technology Coordinator. I conducted technology classes for the students. Teaching students was only one part of my job. Each marking period, I met with teachers to plan student technology projects based upon the curriculum. Another aspect of my job was teacher training. Teachers would attend technology class and I would model lessons. Once a month, teachers conducted technology class while I offered feedback. After five years of teaching and overseeing the technology at Bartow MTD school, I became one of eight Media and Technology Integration teachers for Savannah Chatham County Public Schools. I was hired in December 2009. I am responsible for teaching teachers technology skills, how to infuse technology into their classrooms, and offer general technical support.
