Confucius was a great philosopher. He lived about 2,500 years ago. He was born in 551 B.C. He traveled around China. His parents were very poor. When Confucius was a child he loved learning. He was very smart and polite. He had many followers throughout his life. He was hardworking. He was also a teacher and a chief minister in the government. He was interested in learning. His main idea was that people could achieve peace if people did their duty. Confucius taught many people how to get along. His sayings were written down by his students in a book called Analects. His sayings were very import. These are a few of them:

· “I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.”

·  “If you make a mistake and do not correct it, this is called a mistake.”

· “Our greatest glory is not in falling, but falling every time we fall.”

Confucius died when he was 72.
