The first emperor was Qin Shi Huangdi.  He was also called Ying Zheng.  About 2,200 years ago there were seven powerful kingdoms in China.  The seven kingdoms fought with each other for control over more of the land.  Zheng became king of a place called Qin when he was 13.  By the time he was 30, he fought the other 6 kingdoms and became the king of them.  Qin Shi Huangdi began building the Great Wall of China.  Qin was a mean ruler so many did not like him.  The Chinese emperors had very large tombs built for them.                                Cool Fact:

Qin is pronounced “Chin.” That is where the name China came from!

Qin Shi Huangdi began building the Great Wall of China.
