A Great Man

Benjamin Franklin was born on January 17, 1706.† Ben always had lots of ideas. When he was a little boy, he invented swimming paddles that fit his hands. It helped him swim faster.† That was the first of many inventions! Ben began school when he was† eight. When Ben was seventeen, he left his brotherís shop.† Ben died on April 17, 1790 at the age of eighty-four.

Benís Inventions

After Ben invented the swimming paddles when he was 10, he had ideas for many, many more inventions. To help keep people warm, he invented the Franklin Stove.

There are so many more inventions, but these are some of the most helpful! We really think the $100 bill is cool. Wish we had one of our own!

To help make music, he invented the glass armonica.

To be able to see both far away and up close, he invented the bifocal glasses.

To reach things on a high shelf, he invented the Long Arm.

To stay warm in bed and not get up when someone knocked, he invented the Door Locker.

To keep houses from burning down, he invented the Lightning Rod.
