The Web Services Department is responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of Web-based applications for the school board, central office and school administrative staff.

Our department provides a public facing website,, for the district with the availability of unique sub-sites for each department and school. This website contains a content management system that allows designated district and school employees to update and add content to their site(s).

Web Services also launched, a mobile website featuring an optimized HTML design for mobile devices in 2013. The site provides access to vital district resources within a reduced digital footprint.

Additionally, Web Services developed an intranet website titled ACORN (A Collection of Resource Networks). This portal website automatically authenticates school district staff by his/her computer login and provides varying levels of access based upon their credentials. ACORN includes a repository of electronic forms used throughout the district, an archive of district business and student data reports, internal discussion boards, portal sites for teachers and administrators, as well as individual department websites that provide communication, collaboration, and business process tools.

Many paper-based approval processes have been converted to electronic workflows. These workflows  secured the approval process and expedited their turn-around. Approvals that once took several days moving between schools and district offices are now completed electronically in a matter of minutes.

June 1998 – Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools launches its first website.

March 2009 – Integration of Active Directory allows district employees to login and edit the content on department/school websites.

In 2013, Web Services launched a mobile website,, featuring an optimized HTML design for mobile devices. The site provides access to vital district resources within a reduced digital footprint.
