Professional Biography: My employment began with the Savannah Chatham County Schools 20 years ago. I began as an assistant at Pt. Wentworth Elementary in November, worked for two weeks and was off for 6 days, work two weeks and off nearly a week…… (of course this was Thanksgiving break), I thought it doesn’t get much better than this, I guess it was meant to be, because I’m still here! I returned the next year, again at Pt. Wentworth and worked thru that year, but….prior to our summer break beginning I was asked to apply as a manager for the following school year, I did and I was, no am honored that I was chosen as a manager!

I really enjoy being an instrument that educates and empowers not only students, but adults as well, including myself with even the smallest change.  Example: I had not eaten or even tried broccoli until I began with the Nutrition Department. That’s small sure, but it does impact change and if I can continue to take small steps to enlighten others and myself as I learn more regarding how to obtain healthier eating habits, which leads to a healthier life…. then that’s what is all about, especially when I am afforded an opportunity to begin with our students, if they begin now as children, it is very likely that they will continue to make healthier choices!

Community Involvement: I have had the pleasure of being associated with the Liberty City Youth Organization for 25 years. My oldest son began at 9 years old playing with them, in 1991 and is now 34 years old; my youngest began in 1996 and is now 25 years old. I have held the position as Team Mom, Secretary, Basketball Coach, Football Coach and Event Planner, as well as holding the present position as Board Member and Financial Secretary for 10 years. During this tenure we have had opportunity to see so many of our youth soar, one all the way to the NFL!

After my husband deceased, I resigned from the Nutrition Department to give attention to my youngest son who at 9 years old had lost his father as well as making the transition from elementary to middle school and during this break in employment I volunteered at Wesley Community Center for nearly two years.

I am a member of Jonesville Community Church and volunteer as an usher.
