Charles Ellis Montessori Academy

Hi, I am Ms. Margo.  It is with great pleasure that I am able to represent a hard-working, committed, (always going above and beyond) Ellis staff, as their 2015-1016 Teacher of the Year!  My educational journey brought me here four years ago. Who would have known that after 14 years of teaching in an International Baccalaureate career I would be embarking on a Montessori journey?  I look forward to providing my students with an authentic Montessori experience which I know will brighten their educational journey even further!

I have two sons who are the light of my life, my eldest is a junior and my youngest is in the midst of his Montessori journey as a fifth grader.  It has been an insightful experience as a teacher and also as a parent to see the Montessori pedagogy transfer from school to home, truly priceless moments!

Dr. Maria Montessori stated: "The child builds his innermost self out of the deeply held impressions her receives."  As I was asked to write a biography of myself as an educator, it became apparent to me that it is the child and the children I have guided through my years at Ellis who have made the impressions upon me.

One child stated, "Ms. Margo is a great teacher, she is very nice . . . One of the reasons is homework is rare and another reason she is fun!" Another child stated, “I think Ms. Margo is teacher of the year because she is nice, fun, awesome, she is kind of strict (strict teachers are good). She lets us do really fun stuff during free choice, and all of the work she makes us do is challenging and fun.”

I look forward to another rewarding experience as I venture further into my Montessori journey at Ellis!
