No School Monday, September 4 - Labor Day
There will be no school for students tomorrow, Monday, September 4, due to the Labor Day Holiday.
Right to Know Forms
Students received Right to Know Forms earlier this week. If you have not reviewed, signed and returned this form to The STEM Academy, please do so this week.
Progress Reports were issued this week to students. If you have yet to sign and return the necessary forms, please do so at your earliest convenience. As always, the most up-to-date grades are available via the Parent Portal of PowerSchool. Please contact individual teachers with questions. All teachers’ contact information is available through the Staff Directory link on our homepage.
Students will receive their club information this week. Clubs will meet for the first time this year on Wednesday.
Hurricane Harvey Non-Perishable Food Items Drive
At The STEM Academy, our foundational philosophy is Love Your People. As Hurricane Harvey has ravaged Texas, we desire to support the families and students of Texas in the aftermath.
Through September 8, The STEM Academy will collect non-perishable items for the American Red Cross to go directly to the victims. Items will be accepted during regular school hours in the front office of The STEM Academy.
The following items are requested:
- Canned meals (soup, stews, chili)
- Tuna (or other canned meats)
- Boxed instant meals (mac n cheese, hamburger helper)
- Peanut butter
- Canned fruit
- Canned vegetables
- Canned or bagged beans
- Pasta & spaghetti sauce
- Healthy snacks
- Baby Supplies (Baby supplies may include formula, food, bottles, pacifiers, diapers and wipes.)
- Hair brushes and combs
- Feminine hygiene products
- Body wipes
- Hand sanitizer

Welcome Ms. Litman
The STEM Academy @ Bartlett is happy to welcome Armstrong University student Rachel Litman as visual arts teacher Josh Baluh's fall semester student teacher.
First Lego League
Tryouts for The STEM Academy First Lego League teams will begin on Tuesday, September 5th. Students may continue to see Mr. Hanna in room J2 this week for an application packet. Tryouts will occur from 2:45-4:45 pm, and self-transportation is mandatory. Contact William.Hanna@sccpss.com for more information.
The district technology office is still setting up the home wifi access on school issued devices. Please remind your student to download any necessary items to their device before leaving the school building each day. Thank you for your patience. We will communicate with students and parents as soon as it is set up.
7th Grade Vaccinations
Attention all 7th grade parents!! Georgia law requires that students entering 7th grade, must have 1 dose of Tdap and 1 dose of MCV4 vaccines. In accordance with state law, we cannot allow your child to attend school after September 15th, 2017, unless we receive a current Form 3231 with all required vaccinations. Please check to make sure your child's immunizations are up to date. Thank you.
Raven Rescue Day
Raven Rescue Day is scheduled for September 6, 2017.
S3 Film Competition
The S3 Film Competition is now underway! This year's theme is "That's Why I Know It's True." See tonight’s email for more information or contact Mrs. Lamberth. Contest ends October 1.
StayMobile is available on Thursdays from noon until 3:00 pm to pay for iPad insurance with cash, check, or credit/debit card. Insurance is available for purchase through September 30, 2017. Please note, any damage to an iPad occurring outside of insurance activation is the responsibility of the user to pay for repairs.
SRL Poster Contest
SRL needs YOUR help and invites the next generation of public media journalists to compete in our first student poster design contest. This is a great opportunity for students to showcase their design chops and passion for SRL and journalism. Design a poster that will be distributed to SRL’s network of 100+ schools and used to showcase the power of SRL and student voice in classrooms across the country. We are looking for a wide-range of submissions — from the literal to the abstract — that demonstrate the value and diversity of our community. Entries due October 20, 2017, by 11:59 pm.
