Announcements: 1st Annual STEM Fine Arts & Digital Photography Exhibit

Title

1st Annual STEM Fine Arts & Digital Photography Exhibit

Body

Savannah, Georgia--The STEM Academy @ Bartlett will host its first annual Fine Arts & Digital Photography Exhibit December 4th through December 12th. Over one hundred projects created by both students and faculty will be on display.

The public is invited to view the exhibit December 6th from 5:00 - 6:30 pm. The STEM Academy will also host its Winter Band Concert that evening.

Dr. Jimmie Cave, STEM principal, says, “The Fall Art Showcase is an amazing opportunity for STEM students and faculty to share their unique artistic gifts with the community.”

Projects on display include digital photography, sculpture, mixed media, still life, plaster, clay, and paintings. Organized by Stephen Routh, STEM Makers instructor, and Joshua Baluh, STEM Visual Arts and Applied Design instructor, plans have already been made for the event to grow into a larger annual event. Students completed designs in school clubs, during fine arts and other App classes, and outside of the classroom on their own time.

Routh states, the exhibit provides STEM students the opportunity to showcase their hard work and creativity, as well as giving stakeholders a glimpse of STEM faculty’s talents outside of the classroom.

Part of the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, The STEM Academy @ Bartlett is a specialty middle school serving sixth through eighth grade students. The school was Georgia’s first certified STEM middle school and FETC’s number one STEM middle school in the United States. The National Middle School Association recently chose The STEM Academy as a Lighthouse School to Watch. For more information, contact The STEM Academy by phone at (912) 395-3500 or visit their website at http://stem.sccpss.com.
