Principal Welcome Message

Dr. Linton

Beach High School Friends, Families and Students:

I hope you’re having a wonderful summer and that it has been filled with great moments and memories. As many of you know, Mr. Muhammad has been promoted to Executive Director of High Schools. We know he will continue to work hard and make the best decisions for our students. As a result, I have been appointed the Interim Principal of Beach High School, and for that I’m grateful and humble.

We certainly accomplished a great deal and made some very significant changes. There is so much to be proud of and I truly believe that our accomplishments were made based solely on us working together for one common goal and that is the success of our students. We have an amazing staff and I am grateful for their commitment, courage, and care that they display in so many different ways. I am honored to work with each of them.

As I think about the upcoming school year, I’m very excited about this next chapter we are about to write. We will continue to enhance our culture of continuous improvement. While we refine the ways we collaborate, make decisions, and solve problems together, we will be putting a strong focus on continuing to build a village with our students, and their parents. We will be establishing some new identities of who we are and what we do as we move forward this year. I believe this will have an enormous positive impact for everyone – especially our students. In this, I share our new mantra: “We are a village raising a nation of scholars.” It is with this belief we will enhance our sense of community and school pride in being a “Beach Bulldog”. Tradition and pride in the school will be apparent from today’s students to those who graduated years ago and are still active through our alumni association.

In partnership with our families and community, we will be striving to create a culture of college and/or work readiness, where everyone is a learner, everyone is a teacher, and everyone is a leader! If we want our children to be college and/or work ready, and if we want them to meet the BHS expectations of high standards, we must ensure they receive the best possible instruction and commitment to academic improvement. Therefore, we will implement a variety of resources such as open collaboration between teachers and parents, and the use of data to address unique learning styles/gaps. We will also continue to use Instructional Focus periods, mandatory tutoring, Saturday School, and Twilight sessions as approaches to ensure student success.

The relationship between parents and teachers, are extremely important in helping to create and maintain a positive and safe school culture and climate. As a village, we must be on the same team in raising our scholars to respect each other and all adults in our community. College and/or work readiness also requires us to teach our children to have excellent character, skills and behavior. We are committed to CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT and we are determined to BE EXCELLENT in our school climate and culture work.

Supports:

Students must complete all assignments when given and must meet standard on assessments to successfully pass a class. Grades are not given. Grades are earned based on the student’s ability to meet standard in a subject. To help parents know how his/her student is doing academically, A.E. Beach High School teachers will provide progress reports every two weeks. Please monitor your student’s progress and ask questions if you are not sure of the grades.  Power Parent is another tool that can be used to monitor your student’s progress. Power Parent is an online website that allows you to instantly see your child’s attendance record and grades as the teacher enters it. This is a valuable tool and we hope you take advantage of it. You can sign up with Power Parent through A.E. Beach’s Informational Specialist.

Open House

is Tuesday, August 1th, 2017 from 6:00-7:00PM. Hear the Principal explain Beach High School’s direction for 2017-2018 and learn about the Title One/ School Improvement Plan to all in attendance. You will be given an opportunity to give feedback on the Title One /School Improvement Plan and make suggestions on how to increase parental involvement. You will also have a chance to map out and follow your schedule and meet your new teachers.

We welcome our students to another fantastic year at A.E. Beach High School. Come prepared to work hard every day and give your best effort and you will soar higher than ever before. "WE ARE A VILLAGE RAISING A NATION OF SCHOLARS".

 With much respect,

Dr. Lisa Linton

Principal
