Dear Parents of 7th Graders,
Duke Talent Identification Program, Duke TIP - The largest program of its kind, participants in the Duke TIP 7th Grade Talent Search identify academic strengths, develop abilities and interests, and celebrate their achievements at a crucial time when they are forming their identities and looking ahead to the future. TIP assists families in determining how advanced their students’ academic abilities are and what level of educational challenge is appropriate.
As part of the talent search enrollment, Duke TIP registers eligible 7th graders to take either the ACT (no Writing) or SAT (no Essay) as an above-level test. This allows students to have greater insight into their abilities and it gives them the opportunity to preview a college entrance exam.
Whether you are new to TIP or participated in the 4th–6th Grade Talent Search, we hope you’ll take a moment to learn about this talent search, its valuable benefits and resources designed specifically for academically talented youth, and its qualifications for enrollment. More information will be coming soon to eligible students and families. Until then, please take a look at www.tip.duke.edu
Eligibility is an honor! 7th grade eligible students can participate with a qualifying score at or above the 95th percentile on a recent grade-level test. The following scores qualify a student:
· 6th grade GMAS Math >603
· 6th grade GMAS ELA >616
· 5th grade GMAS Math >604
· 5th grade GMAS ELA >595
