Coastal Middle School strives to be the best middle school in the state of Georgia. We provide a strong emphasis on academics through high expectations for both students and teachers. As an International Baccalaureate World School we work to create a challenging environment that encourages students to embrace and understand the connections between traditional subjects and the real world while becoming reflective and critical thinkers.
Coastal Middle School was recognized by the Governor's Office of Student Achievement as a 2011 Platinum Award School for Greatest Gains in Student Achievement on the CRCT. Only 10 middle schools in the state received this award. Our school also received the Georgia Association of Middle School Principals (GAMSP) Effective Middle School Program Award for 2012-2015.
Our most recent recognition is the Georgia Lighthouse Schools to Watch Designation. We are one of less than 20 middle schools in Georgia to hold this prestigious title. For more information about the Schools to Watch Program go to www.schoolstowatch.org .
Coastal Middle School has demonstrated tremendous results in all subject areas. We accomplished double digit increases in math, science and social studies during the past several years and maintained very high percentages in reading and ELA. 100% of our 6th grade students passed the Reading portion of the CRCT in 2014!
Our school has maintained a strong emphasis on community and service by engaging in a variety of service projects to benefit local and regional agencies. This year we supported the Second Harvest Food Bank, American Red Cross, Park Place Outreach, American Cancer Society, Wesley Community Center, March of Dimes, Greater Savannah Humane Society, Treats for Troops and many others.
It is the goal of the administration, faculty and staff of Coastal Middle School to ensure that each one of our students has a positive and productive middle school experience. We believe in recognizing and rewarding students for their achievements while at the same time providing them with the help, support and guidance that they need in order to exceed expectations.
