- Islands was recognized as a High Flying School (one of eight nationally!) at the 15th Annual National Youth-At-Risk Conference.
- Artwork from 29 of Islands students is featured at Georgia Southern University’s Department of Education.
- The 2003-04 Odyssey of the Mind Team won first place in their Regional division and sixth in the State.
- Islands Secondary Quiz Bowl Team placed first in countywide competition.
- The Islands/Isle of Hope Cooperative Media Festival Project was selected as a World Winner.
- Our Georgia Day Banner was the District Winner for 2003-04.
- The Love for a Child Project collected donations to fill 100 shoe boxes with toys, school supplies, and personal hygiene items that were sent to the children of Haiti who lived in areas devastated by this year’s hurricanes.
- Islands had two Fire Safety Posters (Grades K and 5) selected as winners in this year’s contest.
- Quick Think-a-thon past winner was chosen for a National Toyota advertisement in Time Magazine.
- By May, 2005, all staff will be trained in Gifted classes.
- We have two National Board Certified Teachers on staff.
- Islands was recently approved as an American History Specialty School.
- All students receive weekly instruction in Spanish and Technology from certified teachers.
