Community Service Requirements

Requirements Include:

(1)   20 hours by the end of junior year. Hours are documented on the official SCCPSS “Community Service Validation Document” located in the front office and in Mrs. Ross's Office Room B128

(2)  Minimum 3 paragraph reflective essay.

Community Service Reflective Essay Guidelines:

When the student has completed the required hours of community service, he or she must submit a minimum 3 paragraph reflective essay. This paper is submitted with the documented community service form.

Suggestions for developing the Reflective Essay

  • Paragraph 1: Define Community Service and why it is important
  • Paragraph 2: Describe your Community Service experience and provide details about what you did and people involved and tell if you’re likely to perform the service again. Why or why not?
  • Paragraph 3: Tell what you learned about your experience.

 Approved Organizations & Agencies

Students are encouraged to seek out service opportunities within their community. If you need assistance or are unsure of the legitimacy of the service you plan to perform, you are encouraged to check with your Counselor before performing the work.

Opportunities for service are announced regularly on the morning announcements, and often placed in the Savannah Early College email notices.  Students needing further guidance on selecting appropriate service opportunities can see your counselor for suggestions.

A list of suggested non-profit organizations is listed on the back of this sheet.
