Meet Our Parent and Community Relations Specialist!
Greetings! I’m Dr. Jessica McBride, and I’m excited to be a part of the Sarah Mills Hodge Elementary School team. Before coming to Savannah, I worked as a Parent Liaison, PTO/Faculty Liaison, and Business Partner Coordinator. As the Parent and Community Relations Specialist at Hodge, I’m here to help build a positive relationship with families to support our students’ social and academic growth.
Here’s a little about me: I’m a native Floridian who has lived in Savannah for the past five years. I earned my undergraduate degree from Florida State University (Go ‘Noles!), and my graduate degrees from Florida A&M University (Go Rattlers!). My experience in education spans over 20 years, and includes everything from being a daycare employee to being a college professor. (The only level I haven’t taught is middle school, and I probably won’t!) Teaching elementary school was my favorite job. :-) Not only do I love teaching and working with families to support their children in school, I also co-founded a nonprofit organization, The Imani Dance Program for Youth Development, to prevent delinquency, crime, drug use, and early parenthood by teaching cultural self-esteem through the performing arts. Reading is my favorite pastime, and I love writing! I have written two books, one of which will be in our school library soon.
Now that you know a little about me, I’m looking forward to learning a little about you so that I can work to meet your needs and the needs of your family. You can visit me in the Parent Center (room 188), email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call me at 912-395-5200. It’s going to be a great year at Hodge Elementary!
