Thursday 11/30/17
 
  • There is a free stage combat master class for all theater majors on Thursday from 3-5pm sponsored by the SAA Theatre Guild. Learn unarmed combat and sword fighting for the stage with SCAD graduate and certified stage combatant Cat Buscher. The master class is open to non-majors for $5.00.
  • Potential tennis players: please turn in all physicals and paperwork to Coach Best no later than December 14th!
  • There will be an International Cultural Exchange Organization meeting on December 7th in the performance hall. We will be having a holiday party and members are encouraged to bring food or drinks for 5 points. All money that has not been turned in is due at this meeting.
  • SAA may be participating in the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl competition this year. Please Stop by the media center and see Mrs. Peck or Mrs. Hansen if you are interested. High school level students read the Georgia Peach Book Award Nominees for the current year. For the local competition, we would compete against other SCCPSS High Schools. Each school participates in 6 rounds. Each round consists of 10 questions. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners receive a trophy for their school, and the team who wins first place will go to the state competition. So if you love to read, and would like to compete, swing by the media center for further details!
  • The ASVAB will be administered on December 4th at 9 AM. Pease see Dr. Hadley if you have any questions or if you are interested in taking the Armed Forces Entrance Test.
  • Spanish Honor Society Members: You receive points for participating in International Night. Models need to go to Acme Costumes and booths need their country's flag. See Ms. Verwiel for more information.
  • A Raisin in the Sun Gospel Choir meeting is this Thursday, November 30th, at 3 PM in room 127 with Ms. Peagler. This is NOT an audition, but a meeting to give you information to be better prepared for the audition. Please see Assistant Directors Kealan Neal-Farr or Trinity Blackwell for more information.
  • A Raisin in the Sun cast, crew members, and management will meet briefly this Friday, December 1st, at 3 PM  in room 127 with Ms. Peagler. This is a mandatory meeting and should not last more than 30 minutes. Those that have not signed their online agreement, brought their required items, or turned in picture money MUST do so on or before this meeting. Please see Ms. Peagler for more information
  • Please join SAA's Film Forum this Saturday, December 2nd, at 6 PM for a free screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens here in the John A. Varnadoe Theater. Enjoy a chance to see the movie on the big screen before the next installment opens in two weeks. This screening is free and open to the public
  • Tennis Conditioning will begin Monday December 4th, from 3 - 3:45. Please see Coach Best if you do not have a physical and paperwork packet turned in.
  • The 14th Annual U.S. Air Force Academy Candidate Orientation Program will be on Saturday, December 16th from 10AM to noon. All high school students AND their parents can come too meet one-on-one with current Air Force Academy cadets, their parents, and Academy Liaison Officers. Find out what Academy life is really like. Ask your questions about academic majors, military training, clubs, sports, and the application process. This is a FREE event. Please see your counselor for more information.

  • The NAHS Atlanta field trip is scheduled for Thursday, November 30th and Friday, December 1st. All students planning to attend must arrive at 6:30 AM to board the motor coach, which will be parked at the bus ramp on 49th street. We will depart promptly at 7 AM

  • This Thursday afternoon, November 16th, SAA's Film Forum will meet in room 317 at 2:50pm. The meeting will be to discuss our next film, and to establish a schedule for the rest of the year. Anyone wishing to join, or other interested parties are welcome. Please see Mr. Clifton in room 317 for any questions.

  • "A Raisin in the Sun" management position interviews are tomorrow at 3:00 in the scene shop, room 127. Please complete your survey and application on the google classroom. See Ms. Peagler for any questions.
  • Key Club: Turn in trick or treat boxes and Belk charity event tickets by 8:30! Everyone attending the service project on Thursday, please bring $3 for pizza. No money, no food.
  • English Honors Society, pay your $14 dues ASAP!

  • Any cross country students who have not turned in their uniforms will receive a hold on their report card.
  • Congratulations to Mr. Beringson's students: Logan Prevatt, Ethan Misere, Malik Wood, Amelia McCorvey, and Mya Williams. Their entry won the Student Super Short Film Contest Category in the 2017 SCAD Film Festival!

10/20/17
  • All wrestlers are asked to turn in their physicals by October 16th. Practices start October 23rd, 3:15-5:15
  • WE NEED YOU to join the Savannah Arts Military Support club, "S.A.M.S" club. The first meeting will be after school on Thursday, October 24th in room 319. Help us give back to our local military.
  • SAA's Film Forum is hosting a free screening of the 1982 film Poltergeist this Saturday, October 21st, at 6 pm in the auditorium. The screening is free and open to the public. All are welcome. There will be a discussion/Q&A following the film.
  • There will be a mandatory International Night meeting for those involved in a booth or modeling from 2:45 - 3:00 in Ms. Verwiel's room
  • The next wrestling Hydration Test will be next Wednesday at BC at 4 pm! Cost is $10 for all wrestlers unless you failed the first test. If you failed the first test, it is $20. Mondays practice will only go to 4:30. Next week, all other practices will go until 5:15.
  • The opening reception of Spiders, Snakes, and Snails will be October 23rd, from 2:45 - 4 pm in the Gallery on Washington. The exhibition will continue through November 20th and is free and open to the general public. Regular gallery hours are from 7:30 am - 4 pm, Monday through Friday
  • Want to go on the trip of a lifetime? Want to go to Spain and Switzerland? On this trip, you will. Learn high demand global skills to set yourself apart as a competitive college and career applicant. You will make international friendships and earn the rare International Seal on your diploma. This trip will be on July 4-15, 2019 and will include a Global Leadership Summit in which you will work with international students to create a solution to a global issue. The interest meeting will be November 1st at 3 pm in the cafeteria. See Mrs. Bocanegra for more information.

  • Spanish Honor Society is collecting toiletry items and other necessities for Puerto Rico until October 17th. Please bring in toothpaste, toothbrushes, and other hygiene items. Drop them off at Ms. Verwile's room, room 311.

  • Current and NEW Tri-M Music Honors Society members, please plan to attend a mandatory induction meeting for ALL Tri-M members on Tuesday, 10/17, at 2:45 pm in Mr. Polk's room, room 329. All Tri-M members should plan to attend. At this important meeting, we will discuss the induction ceremony and Tri-M requirements. Please plan for your transportation after the meeting so that you can be picked up at 3:30 pm!

  • Reminder that there is a mandatory cast and crew meeting for Servant of Two Masters tomorrow after school from 2:45 - 3:15 in the black box.
  • Come support the Lady Panthers tomorrow in the Pit! They are in the Sweet 16 and will take on Sonoraville at 4 pm. Tickets will be $5.

  • Spirit week begins October 31st. Students can make suggestions of what they'd like each day to be by dropping their suggestions in the box outside of Dr. Belue's office door, room 226. Suggestions will be tallied and voted on by the senior class but all grades can make suggestions. The last day to submit suggestions is October 13th.
  • SAA Thespians are conducting their annual food drive: Trick-or-Treat, So Kids Can Eat. Please bring in cans of food to be donated to Second Harvest. Cans can be brought in from now until October 13th. Please look for the boxes located at the entrances of SAA and donate to help the citizens of Savannah and the greater area.
  • Wrestlers- you will NOT workout this week AT ALL. All wrestlers are asked to turn in their physicals by October 16th. Practices start October 23rd, 3:00-5:15!
  • There will be a Tennis Team information meeting on Monday, October 23rd, in the gym from 2:45-3:05. Please see Coach Best if you have questions.

Also, any FBLA students interested in volunteering at Garrison Elementary for our Junior Achievement teaching opportunity should also be in attendance.
