The science department offers a wide variety of classes guaranteed to interest and engage almost any student. Students in ninth grade take Advanced Biology which consists of life science material from cells to the human body. In tenth grade students take either chemistry or advanced chemistry and in eleventh grade they take physics. Chemistry introduces the chemical element of life and physics teaches how things work. By the time the student is a senior, electives are offered such as meteorology, oceanography, and anatomy and physiology. For those really interested in science and who enjoy a challenge, AP biology is offered as well as AP physics. Throughout the four years of science, students will participate in the Science Fair, Physics Day, and the Science Seminar. The science department also boasts a high adventure science club which swims with the manatees, goes spelunking, camps, and kayaks.
